A couple months ago I put in a ticket to request the ability to work remote at my current job. When it got promptly denied by corporate management I freaked out and sent a panicked email to HR, the CEO, and the senior manager who denied it. Nothing resulted from it other than a meeting with HR telling me it’s still a no. Oh and pissing off the egotistical management. So basically my “ask nicely” plan didn’t work.
I then filed for ADA accommodations and my doctor sent them all the documentation. Been waiting to hear back from HR, but of course they want to talk to leadership over the office to see if they can accommodate me in the office without allowing me to work remote. And now they are reluctant to approve my ADA request because it’s going to be HR going over what management originally decided. I feel like I pissed off the wrong guy. If I hadn’t sent that panicked email I wouldn’t have been so on their radar and they wouldn’t be scrutinizing my request so much.
It’s a good job, but the corporate nature of the company really sucks. I don’t know what I’m asking for, just some support, camaraderie, and maybe some advice. The decision makers are meeting on Monday to decide my fate.
