I was ecstatic opening that email and had made up my mind on studying in Reed as an international. I did not worry about aid too because everywhere, it said “they meet 100% of the demonstrated need” BUT, though i am grateful for what I got, I still have to pay approx 150% of what my whole family makes. I sent an application for reevaluation, they increased it by $3,000 as a “hardship grant”. Obviously, I will not be able to attend with it so what should I do? Gap year is the best option; however, it’s risky. I will definitely apply Reed next year but will I have worse odds than this year? Are there any options for me to “hold” my current position?
