Alternative to Defender 2

2012 Subaru Outback. Purchased car used 4 years ago and came with Michelin Defender 2s. I’ve had the Defender 2 on a previous car and for some reason just have not loved them.

Currently looking at Continental Control Contact Tour M A/S for a slightly more budget friendly option (baby coming in a month). How do these compare to the Defender 2? Looking for something with good traction, stopping power, and durability.

Any other suggestions?

Trying to make sense of old wires

Trying to install a motion sensor light switch in a circa 1954 house and seeing wire color combos I’ve never seen before. One wire coming in is standard white/black while the other coming in is red/black/white. Can someone help me make sense of what I should do here? TIA!
