i made a post a couple hours ago asking for advice on a double helix done with curved barbells (pic 1). i did what everyone suggested and went to a different shop to swap them for a flat back labret (implant grade titanium). original piercings cost me $110

i ended up having to take out the top one because the angle was absolutely horrendous and it was super obvious with the studs. i dont even really love the one i kept that much but i dont want to take it out yet. i paid $80 for the new piece of jewelry alone.

3rd photo is a conversation i had with my original piercer earlier today - i had called multiple places to ask if they could swap the jewelry for me, but none of them were willing to do it so i messaged him in the meantime (obviously i eventually found a place that did it). i don't think he realizes how bad of a choice the curved bbs were. clearly this dude doesn't know anything

not only will i have to pay again to get it redone later, but i'm also going to have to wait for it to heal in order to redo it. i got them done 3 weeks ago - would you guys try to ask for a refund? i dont even know what i would say. i struggle to stand up for myself sometimes but i just feel scammed and am so upset

i got my double helix done a little over 3 weeks ago. they used curved barbells which i didnt know were not recommended until after it was done. LOL

i didnt go to some sketchy place to try and be cheap. i found this shop with hundreds of reviews on google and a rating of 4.9 stars. i paid $110 for both.

the guy was super nice and seemed to really know what he was doing, but apparently used the wrong jewelry AND told me to spray it with bactine, which i later found out that is also not recommended😭

for the first week, i would clean it twice a day with saline and spray it with bactine before bed. i then ditched the bactine when i learned its not good for piercings and stuck to saline only.

its been almost a month and i havent had any issues - it's clean, it doesn't hurt, and i havent had a single bump so far. ive slept on a donut pillow from day 1 so i never really put pressure on them.

my question is - did i just get lucky with the healing, or are the issues with the wrong type of jewelry expected to come later down the line? idk if i should go to a different place and have them switch these out for straight bars, or if its best to just leave them alone at this point.

UPDATE: spoke with the piercer and hes going to swap them for flat back labrets for $50. i dont feel like i should be charged considering they were done incorrectly the first time but whatever

UPDATE 2: i only really went back to the original piercer earlier because i called around and most other places wont touch any piercings that were done at a different location, but one of them recommended me this other place and they're going to do it for me. it's storming like crazy where i live right now so i'll probaly get this done tomorrow. thanks again for the advice 🫶
