Hi all. I started Enbrel 6 weeks ago. The first 4 were samples from my Rheumatologist. I got my first order from the specialty pharmacy and was charged $4,000+ after insurance. I used the Amgen copay card which was approved for $7,500, I have just under $3,500 left on it. Which means for this next order I will owe $500 out of pocket. Amen said after the copay card is exhausted (and after I pay the $500 OOP) they can change me to the reimbursement program but paying over $4000 a month and then waiting to get reimbursed is absolutely insane.
What other options do I have?
I really hate this. There is no reason meds should cost this much. There's no reason insurance shouldn't pay for most of it. And if the manufacturer is just going to basically pay for it after making people jump through hoops, why do they set the price so high in the first place??
