Thinking about switching to a base 14'' MBP. I consider myself a Windows power user, I always felt deeply attracted to Apple products but never had good reasons to switch for my use case... until now.
My current machine is a Zephyrus G16 2024 (HX 370, RTX 4070, 32 GB/2TB, OLED 240 Hz) which I love, but recently I shifted from heavy use (like 3D modeling, rendering, specialized software and gaming) to basically productivity and occasional photo editing. I don't have much time to play now so gaming is not a concern.
So, I'm no longer taking advantage of this hardware and since I carry my laptop everywhere all day a lighter device with better battery life is becoming ever so tempting.
I've never used a Mac before and it feels like it could be a good moment to finally give it a chance but I still have some questions:
How does XDR mini LED compare to OLED? This is one of my favorite features on the Zephyrus.
How is editing in a nanotexture display?
Is 16 GB enough for stacking/editing 33 MP images in Lightroom or basic 4K video editing? I can afford to spec up but don't want to waste money on an overkill headroom.
Is 12+ hours of battery life a realistic expectation for moderate productivity use without turning the brightness way down?
For those who have swhitched from high-end Windows machines. What are the downsides? Is it worth it or am I just been overhyped?
Any other comments or tips are welcome.
