I submitted an ADA accommodation request in February for simple adaptive technology due to a documented medical condition. I completed paperwork as did my doctor and got it returned in a timely matter. An interactive process meeting was held on April 1st where I was told Employee Health would be looped in.

Since then, the process has involved several delays, missed deadlines, and inconsistent communication. After asking for some sort of timeline for a decision several times, I was told I would receive an update by the end of the week (this was in mid April). The end of the week came and went with no update or explanation.

I had another meeting with HR this week where I was told Employee Health had been looped in (again) and contacted my doctor because they needed more information. I called my doctor’s office to see if they’d been contacted and they informed me that hadn’t received any sort of contact. Outreach has now been made, after I informed HR.

I’m trying to determine whether this is normal or if this is unreasonable as this delay has impacted my ability to work as effectively as possible.

Any insight on the ADA accommodation process is appreciated.
