Neighborhood help for DC transplants moving to NYC asap
Hi, we are long-term DC residents with two young kids (4 + newborn) scrambling to relocate to NYC after my wife got a relocation order from their boss. Rental budget is $6500/month. Would really love a 3 bedroom (live in a DC rowhouse now) but understand how challenging that is.
We value strong community, access to great public schools (and great preschools), cultural institutions, and diversity. We are leaving an amazing 'hood in DC and a preschool that is free thanks to universal pre-K down here, so trying to find a good fit.
We also want to move to a neighborhood where we can make new friends easily since we are leaving most of our community behind in DC.
If we can find a dream apt, our immediate thoughts are Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, UWS, UES, or Fort Greene, but we are open to ideas.
What are your top recs?? Thanks so much.
