Hey everyone, this is my first e-bike and I’m torn between the Aventon Soltera 2.5 and the Level 4 REC. I’m 6’0”, 190 lbs, with a 30” inseam and longer torso, good mobility, and I live in Oregon (some moderate hills and bridges possible). I’ll mainly use it for commuting, errands, and casual rides — probably with some cargo on the rack. I like the idea of throttle and easy step-on convenience, but I also want something that feels solid on hills without killing the battery.
The Soltera 2.5 looks super lightweight (~46 lbs), nimble, affordable (~$1,200), and more “bike-like” with torque sensor for natural pedaling. The Level 4 REC is heavier (~68.5 lbs) but has way more power (750W hub with boost), regen braking, full suspension, included rack/fenders, and stronger commuter features for ~$2,000.
For a taller guy with shorter legs, which frame (step-through or step-over) and which bike would you pick? Any real-world experience with either on PNW hills or as a first e-bike? Thanks!
