I’m heavily interested in joining into the coast Gaurd reserves and going for Public Affairs Specialist. I tried chatting with a recruiter but he was more focused on active duty and in fact told me he didn’t really know how reservist worked. I’m prior service Army Gaurd so that didn’t really surprise me at all cause I get how that works.

After some back and forth and asking him to research some questions I had about joining he then came back and said that I couldn’t get into Public Affairs as a reservist at this time and that I would have to go active duty first. I was curious if this is actually the case right now or if he just didn’t want to deal with me if I wasn’t going to do active duty.
