Little rant here lol. I’m 5’5 and about 256lbs About a month ago, I saw a video of someone who shared their experience of bariatric surgery and how they lost a lot of weight. Didn’t even know what it was but I was super intrigued and sure enough it took over my algorithm. I brought it up to my endocrinologist a week later 4/2/2026 during a virtual appointment and she said that I had to do a virtual workshop and she would submit my referral. The workshop was literally 4 videos a hour each and then each one had a little quiz. I did it all in a day. My Endocrinologist submitted the referral and I had an appointment a week later still virtual of course. I don’t know what I expected but he basically went over the different surgery options, recommended the sleeve and mentioned that he does surgeries on Wednesday and asked when I would be available. I thought this process would be like 6 months to a year and that I’d need all types of approvals for my insurance etc. but he put me on schedule and I received the first approval letter literally 2 days later in the (my Kelsey app) Tomorrow 4/29/2026 I’m having something called a endoscopy ( super nervous) and then the scheduler reached out and put me on the surgeons schedule for the actual sleeve for 05/13/2026, two days before my bday (kinda excited kinda scared) but going into my thirties a new person I guess.

I am so excited for what’s to come , but insanely scared for the things I don’t know and the things I’m unprepared for. I feel like I haven’t done a ton of research but everything is back to back

4/29 endoscopy 5/1 Bariatric Dietitian 5/3 Psychologist appointment 5/13 Gastric Sleeve

All because I watched some videos 😭.

I need tips , advice , what to expect. The only thing I’ve been asked to do so far is to drink protein shakes a week before but I’m supposed to learn more on 05/01 when I meet with the dietitian.

My out of pocket cost for the endoscopy will be $550 to meet my deductible And then the expected out of pocket cost for the sleeve will be $300

I will be using my FSA to cover the cost of both so that I’m grateful for 🙈
