Need advice: severe acne relapse after stopping Accutane
I’ve been dealing with severe acne for the past 1 year.
The first photo (white t-shirt) was taken on 16 March 2026, shortly after my dermatologist stopped my Accutane (isotretinoin) treatment.
The second photo was taken on 13 May 2026, and as you can see, my acne has come back significantly with inflamed pimples/cystic breakouts.
I was on isotretinoin (around 10–20 mg, as prescribed), and things were much better while I was taking it, but after stopping, I seem to be relapsing.
Has anyone experienced acne coming back this quickly after stopping Accutane?
What was your dermatologist’s next step — restarting isotretinoin, maintenance treatment, or something else?
