Accommodation while road tripping the Peloponnese

Hi,

we are planning a 2 person trip across the Peloponnese (we initially wanted to island hop in the south, but this reddit convinced us to do this instead). We will arrive in Athens, spend a bit of time there, then rent a car and travel the Peloponnese. We want to see as many historical and cultural sites as possible without hurrying too much.

Now, the biggest issue we have no idea about is accommodation. Like I said, we don't want to just book 1 hotel and then travel everywhere, I think the best solution would be to move where we stay at least a few times. We are not on a strict tiny budget that would force us to be less comfortable, however we also do not want to spend too much unnecessarily for a nice hotel we'll only spend the nights in.

What would be a best way to do this? Pick a few cities, from which we make trips with the car, and book a hotel there, a few nights at a time? Are there any specific recommended cities? Is Airbnb big in Greece? Is it worth it? How would you tackle this?

Hey!

Me and my girlfriend are planning a holiday in Greece. Specifically towards the end of June, most likely for 2 weeks (10-14 days). We are not very keen on lying on the beach, we are mostly interested in the beautiful Greek nature, and (ancient) historical sites. We want to see as many things as possible, but without hurrying too much.

Our current plan is to travel some of the southern islands. We would like to start in Athens, then travel to Paros, Naxos and Santorini, then back to Athens for our flight home. We intend to travel using public transport - ferries, buses, taxis if absolutely necessary, and probably sleep in hotels, about 2-3 days at each location.

We would love to get some advice from locals or experienced people - is our plan good? Are there other/smaller islands we should visit instead, or add to the plan? Should we just not go to these islands, since they are very popular and might be overcrowded in the season?

Please, let us know and thank you in advance!
