Issues with 811 inaccuracy
Hi all, I’m a new home owner in Durham and have been in the process of repairing a crushed area of the pipe connecting my house to the city sewer. My plumbers had 811 come and mark the utility lines, but 811 marked a lot of incorrect spots (ex. my drinking water line was marked as next to the sewer, but it’s actually 30ft away under my driveway). They also failed to mark a pipe that was running over my sewer line and that pipe appears to be what caused the damage. Now my sewer has to be rerouted and this is causing a really costly repair.
I’ve called the city to report this problem but haven’t heard anything useful and no one has confirmed what this mystery utility line actually is or if it’s even active. I’ve heard a lot of people have experienced similar issues with 811.
Any advice out there for next steps or who to contact?
