Can’t decide which route to go
Need help narrowing some options for my next bike. I’m currently on a Lifan KPX 250 and I’m loving the thing. I’ve don’t a lot to it and have a luggage system for some camping trips. I ride about 70% off road and 30% on road currently. As much as I love this thing it really can’t do highway. I can do 65-70 but it’s pushing the limits and not a good time and I want to be able to travel more and explore trails further away.
I’m torn between sticking with the dual sport style, or going into lightweight adventure. I want to keep it lightweight, around 400cc-ish and plenty off road capable. I’m worried some of the adv bikes are going to be heavy and struggle on the trails we like to ride.
I had some options I like but they all have trade offs. I love the triumph scrambler 400xc but I’m worried about its off road capabilities. I would love a drz400 or similar just don’t want to drop 10k on a bike, want to keep it around 6-7k. Himalaya, crf300 rally and similar are on my radar currently. Any input appreciated!
The group I ride with currently is me, another 250 dual and a klr650.
Tldr: lightweight off-road bike, can do highway speeds, 6-7k range, technical trail capable.
