My PhD funding was for three years, but I do experiments using behavioral technique on the human population, and simply designing the projects and collecting data cost me two years’ time. Naturally I didn’t finish my dissertation when my funding ended.

Right now I’m living off unemployment funding provided by the government which barely covers my rent. Although my supervisors keep asking for me to pick up the pace of my work, I find myself losing focus and not being able to think clearly because I haven’t been eating enough.

They have suggested that I move back in with my parents and live under their roof so I can finish writing, but my parents are poor too, and I cannot think of burdening them with having to provide for me when I’m already an adult.

Genuinely, how do I find a solution? I am so burnt out and overworked my health isn’t allowing me to take on other part-times…
