Sony a6100 Utah Trip — Best Settings
I’m taking my Sony a6100 to Utah (Zion → Bryce → Moab → Canyonlands → Page → Grand Canyon) and want to prep my settings. My main focus is landscapes all day on hikes, plus sunrise/sunset and astro. Portraits of my boyfriend and me are secondary.
Gear: a6100, 16–50 kit lens (main hiking lens), Sigma 16mm f/1.4 (only using near the car, renting this mainly for astro pics), 70–200, tripod.
Looking for advice from Sony APS‑C users on:
• Daytime landscapes (kit lens): best aperture range, metering/DRO for harsh light, ISO limits.
• Sunrise/sunset: your go‑to shutter/aperture/ISO, WB tips, whether to stop down or shoot wide.
• Astro (Sigma 16mm): shutter speed for 16mm APS‑C, ISO sweet spot, long‑exposure NR on/off, MF tips.
• Portraits (secondary): AF mode + tracking, aperture for environmental shots.
Also open to dust + battery tips for desert shooting.
Thanks — trying to set up presets before the trip.
