Embedded Fleet Management

Howdy all,

I've been evaluating options for fleet management for embedded and Linux edge devices. The market out there is saturated with mediocre solutions that solve SOME but not all of them.

I'm trying to find something that's unified for esp32/microcontrollers and Linux containers, ideally. That's a more challenging mix, but they have many of the same needs for device configuration, data connections, sharing state, etc. Their underlying method for deploying software/firmwares can be abstracted and routines built to manage those elements. They also have common elements - deploy the updated files, send the request to the device to apply the configuration, roll back if the update fails, etc.

The shared stuff is what I'm really keen on, even if this is multiple pieces of software that work together. I'm thinking that Canonical may be making a play to build this out at some point in the next year or so with their purchase of Golioth, but no official word on that and can't really wait that long. Need something sooner, and I'm finding the solutions that exist wanting.

What do?
