18 months of brutal pain...I didn't look forward to leaving the house, let alone getting something in a different room.
X-ray, MRI confirmed plantar fasciitis. Had 3 cortisone shots and 7 rounds of shockwave to no avail. Next step was a plantar fascia release which I definitely was not going to do.
Luckily I met a doctor that does Tenex. First thing he did was use an ultrasound machine to measure the thickness of my plantar fascia of my good foot (2mm) to my bad foot (6mm). Why the hell my podiatrist never did that to begin with is still shocking to me!
Procedure took 20 minutes, I was awake and it didn't hurt at all. I also had zero pain afterwards and even drove myself home (with my good foot).
Week 1: was on crutches with a boot, non-weight bearing
Week 2: weight bearing in a walking shoe, no crutches
Week 3: regular shoes, no "toe off" when walking
Week 4: normal walking
2 months: hiking all day but foot was sore at end of day, sore when walking barefoot
6 months: hiking all day, foot isn't sore, able to walk barefoot around house without issue
For those still suffering, spend the time to look into this. I paid out of pocket because it's not your standard of care, but it should be!
I just ordered some barefoot shoes so I never experience plantar fasciitis ever again!
