I have compiled a list of the tests from CBAT TMI into two groups I and there's a little description next too each of them some are from the TMI website and others are summaries I added to keep it short. I was wondering if anyone could point me to any resources for the remaining tests that aren't included in the CBAT ready app even a simple memory game with numbers to prepare for some of the memory tests.

CBAT Tests on CBAT ready app

  • Airborne numerical test (SDT calculations)
  • Figures, Logistics and Groups (A multitasking test involving visual monitoring, verbal memory and basic mental maths)
  • Target Recognition Test (You must identify 4 different types of targets (Light, Scan, System and Scene), multi-tasking and monitoring all targets as efficiently as possible)
  • Digit Recognition Test (Number appears and multi choice question is asked. Gradually gets longer)
  • Directions and Distances ( Directions and distances will be given to you in a very confusing text and you will then have to answer a multiple-choice question such as “How far are you from X” or “Which direction are you from X”.)
  • Visual Search Test ( Search for letters or symbols with values in a grid and enter the numerical value)
  • Instrument Comprehension Part 1 and 2 (Straight forward using instruments to show planes orrientation)
  • Numerical Operations Test ( Straight forward too focus on accuracy and speed like DAA numeracy)
  • Visualisation Tests ( Like DAA spacial reasoning test)
  • Trace Test 1 (Mimmic planes movements using keyboard. Included on this list although its not on the app games like warthunder could be good practice)

No practice resources on app

  • Auditory Capacity Test (Joystick controlling ball through tunnel with added instructions)
  • Cognitive Updating Test (You are able to view 2 out of a total of 6 displays of information at a time, so you must shift your attention through each of them)
  • Dynamic Projection Test (You control up to 3 planes at a time. The first plane (Red, labelled CA-A) must be directed through the gates in alphabetical order using bearings. The second plane (Yellow, CA-N) must be directed through gates in numerical order. The third plane (Green) must intercept enemy aircraft (White). In addition to directing the planes, you must keep them out of ‘danger areas’, control altitude and the distance between them.)
  • Rapid Tracking Test (Must take pictures of targets using joystick)
  • Sensory Motor Apparatus Test ( Keep ball aligned with crosshair on screen using joystick and rudder pedals)
  • Situational Awareness Test (You are shown a 9×9 grid and tasked with remembering the location of several different units on said grid. In addition to this you may also need to recall the type of unit, how many there are, whether they are friendly or not, the direction they are moving, and their callsign. Finally, you will need to remember information about two controller aircrafts, including altitude, direction of travel, location and communication channel.)
  • Spatial Integration Test (Shows 2d and 3d maps. Questions will be asked on points of interest on each map)
  • System Logic Test (15 tabs of information presented, can only have two open at a time then use basic arithmetic solve questions)
  • Table Reading Test (For this test you will be given a double-sided sheet displaying grids to cross reference with information displayed on the screen)
  • Trace Test 2 (This time you will be shown an animated video of up to 5 different coloured aircraft flying. You are tasked with remembering their movements and then answering multiple choice questions about what you saw. Common questions pertain to which aircraft leave or enter the scene, and in what order, so try to take note of that. There will also be questions asking about random movements made by the aircraft, such as “which aircraft made the most turns?” or “which aircraft did not vertically climb”.)
  • Verbal Logic Test (Provided several pages of information and have to “connect the dots” to answer multiple choice questions)
  • Vigilance Test ( 9x9 grid in which you have to eliminate stars that appear using coordinate points)

It would be nice to get personal experiences too on what tests people found the most challenging or ones that were the most difficult to prepare for. Some of the tests in the second list I probably wont allocate any time too due to it being pointless like anything to do with the joystick because I do not know what the sensitivity will be like. Tips and tricks would also be helpful hopefully this can help others out too.

I thought I’d share an update on my current application because I’m pretty happy with how things have gone so far. I started my application around two weeks ago for pilot I filled in all the information as soon as I could apart from uploading my education certificate as I couldn’t locate it but I got a recruiter same day I started my application and two days later I had my DAA to accept and take within a 7 day window from home. You can go to your local AFCO to take it but I just chose to do it on my laptop. Results were given back to me within three days and on the same day I attended my officer presentation which can be done either in person or online. I chose to do it online. I’ve not long had my physical ID check and finally submitted my education certificates as I had to order new ones. CBAT is booked for sometime in the next month or two. Overall seems to have progressed pretty rapidly. Does anyone have tips for attending CBAT? I’ve been told to bring a pillow, I have CBAT ready and am refreshing on speed distance time calculations. Anything else that could be helpful?

Edit: Is the overall consensus on attire to wear a suit or at least a shirt and nice trousers I have seen mixed opinions.
