I really want to be a Doctor but I feel like undergrad ruined my chances. Do I still have a chance?
I need advice, I received my bachelors degree back in 2020. I’m a non traditional student applying to medical school(hopefully). But I got a low gpa (2.21…) I know it’s not anywhere near it should be. I had to repeat a couple classes a couple times. I had a hard time in undergrad, I worked full time and was also enrolled full time in school. This really affected my school work. I had a lot of personal problems occur and had a car accident that required me to withdraw from my classes at the end of my last semester. I have worked in the health care field since I was 18. I had been working in dermatology for 4 years with exposure to surgery experience in MOHS and I have worked in research for the past 4 years. I have been included in four papers as an author. I am included in the acknowledgment in 5 others. I work as a Clinical Research coordinator for influenza and COVID vaccines for the past 3 years. Worked in the lab as a lab technician for 4 years. I am really wondering what steps I should take to make myself competitive like consider a SMP or should I reconsider my career.
