Hello! I am new to knitting and so far have made a couple of sailor slippers. I decided I want to knit something wearable so I bought 2 patterns from June lagoon, the mestra top and the archimestra top.
My question is around the term ‘elastic’ used in the patterns. The only materials needed for the pattern are listed as 4mm and 10mm needles, and 11wpi yarn, so as far as I’m aware I don’t need actual elastic for the pattern. The writer says in a disclaimer:
“My patterns are based on individual measurements & elastic. Patterns made to have elastic will not work well when made without! Please attempt at your own discretion.”
They also use it in the sizing section which I have attached.
Is “elastic” in this context:
A) another word for straps as my stepmother thinks
B) a term used in machine knitting
C) a secret 3rd option
I’m so confused if anyone has any idea what this means I’d be so so so grateful
