Dreamy Paititi - Capitanos Connection to the Eternal Moon and the Lord of the Nights Plan Foreshadowed.
We've had this quest in the back of our minds ever since 5.8, and haven't been able to truly piece it together until recently, but even then we were kinda stuck, until I saw this post here. And it all finally clicked in my head.
To start, we need to establish that dreams in Genshin have been proven to sometimes be a warning of the future. With notable examples of this being Colleis dream of Irminsul burning and the Travelers dream of Capitano in the beginning of Incandescent Ode of Resurrection.
In a world quest in 5.8 at the Easy Breezy island, we help a character named Atzili brew drinks from Brewblossom nectar. After a few drinks, we pass out and have a dream where a strange voice recites a poem to us.
"O Syrup Mother, O Phlogiston Father! Let us meld together like sweet honey, and burn like flames... ... The Lord of the Crossroads raises their baton, and onward floats the boat of the golden moon... The smoldering treasures lie at the crossroads, beneath the silver moon... The scalding treasures lie beneath the light of the false moon... Ahahahaha! Farewell, child of the stars! Should we not meet again in this nation... I shall await you in another... Tarry not, oh tarry not..."
This poem has a few components that we should define before we continue.
Syrup Mother = Dendro Archon / Irminsul
Phlogiston Father = Pyro Archon / Pyro Gnosis
Lord of the Crossroads = Lord of the Night (Obviously)
Golden Moon = Eternal Moon (Aria the Golden Moon Sister)
Silver Moon = Frost Moon
False Moon = Dottore, The False Moon God
The Treasures = Columbina becoming the Lunar Goddess and Irminsul burning.
Now this is the point where I was stuck, until a new NPC in the Temple of Space revealed some very important lore. Diotima, found in the library of the Temple of Space, tells us that before the Heavenly Principles arrived on Teyvat, souls wouldn't go to some "Ancient Tree", they'd instead go up to the moons. This naturally brings into question: what happens to all the souls in Teyvats Ley Lines/ Irminsul, if its burnt to the ground?
They have nowhere to go. Lets go back to the poem to answer this.
"O Syrup Mother, O Phlogiston Father! let us meld together like sweet honey, and burn like flames." - This line basically means, we will mix Irminsul and the Pyro Gnosis to burn Irminsul. (Which is confirmed by recent leaks.)
"The Lord of the Crossroads raises their baton, and onward floats the boat of the golden moon" - This line means once Irminsul is burnt, the Lord of the Night will guide the souls to the Eternal Moon above Natlan like the Charon boat leading souls to the underworld in Greek Mythology.
"The smoldering treasures lie at the crossroads, beneath the silver moon" & "The scalding treasures lie beneath the light of the false moon" - These 2 lines aren't talking about an actual physical treasure. They are talking about us helping Columbina, who is at a crossroads in her life, become the Lunar Goddess. And burning Irminsul which will be found under the light of the false moon, aka involve Dottore.
Now what does this mean for Capitano? Well we know a few things here.
Capitano is the Master of the Ley Lines for the Night Kingdom/ Natlan. With Irminsul gone, that leaves a wide open position for Capitano/ The LoTN and the Night Kingdom to take its place effectively for all of Teyvat.
The top 4 Harbingers all seem to represent the moons of Teyvat. Arlecchino is the Iridescent Moon, Columbina is the Frost Moon, Dottore is the False Moon, and that leaves 1 moon and 1 Harbinger remaining, both of which are "dead" above Natlan. And Capitano already has some ties to the moons with his origin from the Eclipse Dynasty of Khaenriaah and his sword being named Antumbra in the files.
I feel like this is going to be how Hoyo connect him officially to the Eternal Moon above Natlan. He and the LoTN will help ferry souls into the Night Kingdom and then to the Eternal moon once Irminsul is gone.
