Hey guys… I moved here few months ago from Romania and I’m trying to get into fishing. I never really fished before, but since here is ocean everywhere, I thought why not try it as a hobby.

I will probably fish around Auckland, mostly in the weekends. I just have some questions for people with more experience.

From what I saw online, for saltwater fishing you don’t need a license, only for freshwater. Does that also include rivers?

Also, is there any time of day or places around Auckland you would recommend for beginners? Somewhere more relaxed where people won’t laugh at me if I can’t cast properly yet 😅

Any other advice/suggestion is appreciated.
