Hi, just as then title states. For 1400$ more I can go to timber tech PVC. But comparing the timber tech reserve to the landmark or vintage (pvc) the composite seems alot stronger. Deck is in direct sun, only picking lighter color.

I have gotten alot of quotes on getting a new 15x16 ft deck built that will sit 5feet off the ground. All the contractors use composite footing pucks with buried post and only 1 specified wrapping the post and backfilling with pea gravel. And another only uses helical piers and they came in a bit higher on cost.

Footing needs to be 42” where I’m at.

So far everyone says to use poured footings and mount the post above ground to the concrete footing.

When talking about spending 20-25k on a new composite deck, It’s blowing my mind they are being done with buried post. So when the post rots out but your deck is still good you need to try and replace post??? What am I missing here or are these decks not going to outlive the post?

One contractor stated where I’m at the soil drains very well so I won’t have the problem. But I call BS, there’s always moisture in the ground…….
