Passed 2nd Attempt
Just found out I passed the Naplex.
Graduate on 2025
Ist attempt: went well apart from a few silly mistakes that probably costed me the exam. The exam report had mostly 3s and one 2. I was shocked how I didn’t pass and kinda lost motivation. So went straight to mpje and passed it first attempt and then came back to study the Naplex again
2nd attempt: It was the random most exam a lot of questions from so called “low beamer chapters” such as migraine, eyes/ears/nose, a lot of diagnosis questions from random disease states
Much difficult attempt but got a few guesses right and that made a difference
How I studied:
I only studied the Uworld book, no QBanks or practice questions apart from the QBanks on Biostatistics. Other than that I thought going through qbanks would be a waste of time. I also went over the ethics/preceptorship from PNN and Pharmpreppro, i think PNN one is simple and that’s what you mostly get on the exam. The PowerPoint posted on the thread was also very helpful. My strategy was to read through the book and question how one drug can be recommended over the other like if a women is pregnant give keppra as apposed to most other ASMs, look at SIs, any contraindications, etc. if you can remember these then there’s no point on going through the practice Qs.
I also didn’t waste time on purchasing any practice exams. However, everyone is different but I thought it isn’t necessary if you study the right way. My biggest advice would be to “STUDY EVERYTHING AND DO NOT SKIP ANY CHAPTER”. No chapter is more or less important than the other and you can see how random my exam was. So do not just rely on Reddit. You would get some same Qs but overall the exam will be different. So study every chapter
Topics that were heavy on my 2nd attempt:
- Ethics/Preceptorship
- Migraine
- Eyes/ears/nose (know everything about eyes related diseases
- Vaccines (know pretty much everything)
- ID (tough cases with no allergies or pregnancy to rule out choices lol), no pneumonia, acute otitis media, or HIV question at all. Just random tough cases plus a few simple questions on prophylaxis of opportunistic infections
- Math and biostats were similar to post posts here
More to know:
Know baqsimi is intranasal, which vaccines are oral, nasal, or IM and where to keep them at (refrigeration vs fridge), know all the antidotes from Rx preprep instead of the just the famous ones; I got the rare antidote Qs, know the BuDs for sterile vs non-sterile compounding plus what chemo trash goes to what bins (black vs yellow), know the suspending and preservative agents,
Know the umab drugs’ mechanism of action such as cd20 receptor target etc. know recalls 1,2,3, know the mechanism of action of the anti arrhythmic drugs and which ones are used for ventricular tachycardia (lidocaine and one more i forgot the name)
FYI: the goal of this post is not to scare anyone but to encourage to study as much as you can and not to skip on any chapter
