I need some advice paying down debt and starting some savings
So me and my wife have are finances combined. We make roughly $7,450 month after taxes. We’re currently sitting on $4,000 in consumer credit debt. Our budgeting is roughly 2,200 for rent (house), 2,100 for tuition (we are in night law school), and around $1,000 in other fixed expenses like car loan, utilities, car insurance, so $5,300 in expenses. Based off our budgeting I think we can afford around $400-500 in savings and payment towards the credit card debt monthly. I currently have around $10k available from my 401k, would it be worth it to take a 401k loan to pay down the credit card debt then pay that with deductions? Also what happens if I leave my job? Will I be able to continue simple deduction if I move to another job that offers a 401k? Trying to determine the best course of action to get this paid off before it compounds into a real problem. We pay tuition 9 months of the year, but also need savings for books every new semester.
