Is it normal to purge on different parts of your face at different times? I don’t even know if purge is the right word haha.
Basically, I’ve been on tret for about 8 months now. I started because I had a horrible breakout on my right cheek that was probably due to dirty phone screens. I purged a little on that right cheek those first few months, but now that side of face is 95% clear.
I didn’t have any acne on the other side of my face at all during that time. But for the past 3-4 months, I’ve been seeing more breakouts on the left. They’re not like the acne I used to get; these are more like tiny whiteheads that usually go away in a few days, but they’re still annoying and show texture under my makeup. This doesn’t happen on my right side.
I switched from 0.025% to 0.05% in February as an attempt to get them to chill out, which has helped a little, but I’m not sure if this is normal or not. I am a side sleeper, but I sleep on my right side more than my left, so not sure what else could be causing this. My skin texture and hyperpigmentation has drastically improved overall, so I know it’s working.
Here’s my routine -
AM: CeraVe hydrating facial cleanser, The Inkey List tranexamic acid serum, Illiyoon ceramide concentrate cream moisturizer, Fenty niacinamide + aloe sunscreen
PM: CeraVe hydrating facial cleanser, wait for face to dry, Nurx 0.05% tret + 4% niacinamide + 10% azelaic acid compound formula
Until about 3 weeks ago, I was swapping between good molecules super peptide serum and the ordinary multi peptide + copper serum in the AM after cleansing, and I was sandwiching at night. Could that have clogged my pores, but only on one side?
