How to speak in a roundabout way
Just got called out today for being too blunt and direct, instead of saying "you can't see the physician unless you make an appointment", I should've said "I will check with the clinic first, then I will get back to you." Even though the answer is obviously the same.
I grew up in a household where people like to be direct, they don't butter up their words and say things in twists and turns, they say things directly, it hurts but it stops most misunderstanding.
How do I, someone who's used to speaking bluntly and directly, learn to speak in a way that doesn't make someone feel like "Ive got more important things to do at the moment"?
