So it was exactly six years ago this month that primary SOS host Rudy Fischmann started work on an ill-advised project— a rock opera. It was ill-advised because Rudy is actually living with brain cancer, and lacks enough left hand coordination to actually play any instruments traditionally, nor the energy. Still, he’s managed to pull it off with the help of 60 other people from 12 nations around the globe. It may not be major musical history, but it’s an absolute first of its kind.

So minor music history?

The whole thing serves as a fundraiser for two great cancer charities… both very closely associated with rock opera kings The Who. We’re talking about Teen Cancer America and the Teenage Cancer Trust in the UK.

So check out this podcast to learn more about this big, dumb idea that became a brilliant reality, and some of the people who helped make it possible.

To learn more specifics on the rock opera and its fundraising component, visit: https://www.episode18.com

It's simple, really: the music is free, but make a donation to either charity and you're entitled (if you want) to digital downloads, a printed booklet of liner notes, and a lyric/story script. Rudy's not looking to fill your life with clutter... just to get you to take a listen to his music, and for you to share some love with teens going through cancer.

All music is available on most music streaming apps and YouTube. Just search for “Episode 18” by That Cancer Life.
