Hi, I'm a first time cat owner and I'm not sure what to make out of the interaction between my 1yo male cat and 11 month old female cat, both spayed.
We have had him for about 5weeks. They eat next to each other, nose kiss when they meet.
But the female cat will hunt the new cat up and down the stairs several times a day, jump on his back and bite. She beats at him with her paws every time she sees him (sometimes only playful, but she always has her paws up just in case). She doesn't make any sounds, sometimes a bit of a hunting snarl.
The male cat only runs away, most of the time doesn't stand up for himself. And he hums or growls at her. Then he walks away (or tries to).

Should I try keep them apart a bit more?
