people have completely forgotten the point of mbti. you are this type because you do this and that, not, doing this and that makes you so and so. There are so many stereotypes around mbti types that you end up feeling like a fraud once you deviate from those stereotypes by even an inch. personally for me, i learned about mbti when I was in my early teens, at first it was entertaining, taking the test and reading stuff about yourself was validating. But I feel that its just that human instinct to organize and categorize that is the root of the issue here, we are so prone to finding patterns in chaos that we end up putting everything into neat little boxes. and nothing suffers from this more than your own identity. Our personalities are not linear, they are not constant, its essential for our very survival that we constantly evolve. and once we start putting ourself in a neat little box with a neat looking title, either we stop growing, or we fall into a perpetual cycle of identity crisis.
Its this constant cycle of taking the test, seeing content, affirming your own beliefs, validating yourself and then when you see the slightest deviation, starting all over again.
maybe Iam taking this too seriously, maybe people treat mbti like a joke and move on, but I have struggled from this in the past and believe there are people who are still struggling with it.
really, objectively speaking, what is it worth? is understanding yourself by a test really going to help your quality of life?
while I do agree that judging people based of off the stereotypes alone and putting them in a pretty little box does help you navigate surface level connections but when deeper connections are concerned, its more damaging that not.
that is just my take on this, if you have an alternate opinion, feel free to share.
