So I had a colonoscopy today. The prep was not too bad (had moviprep) which I mixed with sprite since it’s clear. Made the whole thing a lot more palatable.

I was probably in and out of the bathroom for about 3/4 hours the day before starting at 7pm.

The day of the colonoscopy I had to wake up at 6am to take the second dose of moviprep. Slightly less palatable but managed to get it down without feeling sick throughout the process.

Had my appointment at 1:30pm BST was fairly fast getting in, I had opted for sedation which was a mix of fentanyl & mizolam(?) the nurses at the procedure room were very nice and took into account that I was shitting it (no pun intended) however the overall colonoscopy gave me no discomfort or pain at all and felt like it only lasted 5 minutes, but I was fully awake and watching the screen the whole time.

They’ve fully ruled out cancer but did take some biopsies due to a large amount of inflammation in my bowel, they saw multiple Apthous ulcers which they didn’t really explain what they were. If anyone knows or what this may point towards let me know!

So now I’m awaiting seeing the results from the biopsies to see what I have.

But overall the prep and the procedure were very easy however I imagine this fully depends on the layout of your bowel. But if you’re thinking of not going due to fear, don’t delay colon today!
