Hi everyone,
Looking for some advice from people who’ve gone through Google offers recently.
I’ve received a verbal offer from Google for a technical role. The details shared were:
Level: L3
I tried to bring up both level (L4) and compensation, but the recruiter said there’s no room for negotiation and framed it as more of a “take it or leave it” situation.
The written offer hasn’t been sent yet, but I was told that once it is, I’ll have about 5 days to sign.
A bit about my background:
~5–7 years of experience
Currently in a Staff-level role
Strong background in cloud, networking, and customer-facing architecture
Current compensation is higher than this offer
Given all this, I’m trying to understand:
Is it actually true that Google sometimes doesn’t negotiate at all, especially on level?
Has anyone been told “no negotiation” initially but still managed to get:
Level upgraded (L3 → L4), or
Improved comp (RSUs / sign-on)?
Since the written offer hasn’t been generated yet, is there still a real window to push one more time?
Or is this basically a signal that everything is already locked internally?
Would really appreciate honest insights or similar experiences.
Thanks!
