Jury duty food

Hi, I have a jury summons for later this month in Newark. The orientation said you can bring your own food, but how realistic is that? There's no fridge, right, so I can't just take lunch. I ask because I have IBS and a lot of food sensitivities. Also, because I will be losing income (I work by the hour), I'd rather not pay a lot (I see a wrap at Hobby's Deli is around $25.)

Anyone have experience with bringing their own lunch?

I keep seeing posts where people say they still need to worry about paying for college but they don't mention having invested in a 529. Is there a reason people don't do this? I thought a 529 was tax advantaged. Is it more lucrative to just keep the investments elsewhere and draw from those?

I don't even have kids, but I'm just curious.

ETA: I'm talking about people who plan to FIRE. I understand that a lot of people have little or no savings to start a 529.
