Mauritian here, coming back to Joburg soon and honestly I've lost count of how many times I've visited at this point 😄 So please, no Sandton City or Mall of Africa recommendations been there, done that, got the receipt lol.
What I'm actually looking for:
🌿 Nature & Scenic spots Anything beautiful, peaceful and relatively safe around the Sandton or Roodepoort area? Hiking trails, parks, botanical gardens, viewpoints, I'm here for all of it. Bonus points if it's not too touristy.
🛍️ Markets Love a good market vibe such as crafts, food, local stuff, affordable prices. Not looking to break the bank. Any hidden gems or weekend markets worth checking out? for example the farmers market.
🍃 Cannabis / 420 scene So I know personal use is decriminalized in SA what's the actual situation on the ground in Joburg for a visitor? I saw mention of a 420 Café online, is that legit and still operating? Are there chill spots where you can smoke freely or grab edibles like weed cookies? Would love a relaxed, social vibe rather than anything sketchy.
