Hey y'all!
I found this watch (no band) at a garage sale yesterday for pretty much free. I'm looking for ID and authenticity, and perhaps what you would do with it (cleaning, basic maintenance) if it was yours! I can see that it's Fortis which is very cool if true. It still works decently well (although it sometimes seems like it's too deep seated to move? It continues once I remove it and put it back in) and is a manual wind. The gear area looks so pristine to me but this is my first vintage watch so what would I know hahah
Also I immediately made a small mistake... In trying to get the spring bars out, which were SUPER wedged and gross, I bent one corner of it out which means it doesn't close now. My plan is to soak it again, just the cover don't worry, and squeeze it shut with a tool of some kind, but I'm obviously worried about making things worse. It is cleaning up nicely, but the face is pretty dirty and there may be a bit of tarnish on the top bit.
