[58 years old] Cat scratched my mom's face deep — two hospitals gave us completely opposite advice and I don't know who to trust. Please help!!
Photo of the cut. My mom finished her rabies shots on May 6, 2026 because my cat bit her. Today the same cat scratched her face pretty deep. We rushed to the ER and they wanted to do plastic surgery immediately when the cut is still open like this, it didn't feel right, so we went to a second hospital for another opinion.
The second hospital said they can't stitch it immediately because cat wounds carry bacteria so it needs to fully heal first. They just told us to wash it with soap and water 6 times a day for 2 days, then see a plastic surgeon after.
Both hospitals agreed it's a shallow cut, but neither one mentioned antibiotics or hospitalization. We're literally in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country with only these two options and I have no idea who to trust.
The doctors here are pretty questionable. Does anyone know what to do or at least tell me if there are any good online doctors to consult?
