Need help getting rod and reel for hubby

I admittedly know absolutely nothing about fishing but am trying to buy a rod and reel for my husband, as a gift. After researching and researching, my eyes are crossed and I’m more confused than ever!

A bit about him and where he’ll be fishing — he used to fish a great deal, but hasn’t done it in years since life has gotten in the way. All his fishing will be done on a freshwater lake, with an assortment of stocked fish, including bass. The majority will also be done from a boat, not shoreside.

So what do I get him? Want something fairly substantial, but not a setup that’s going to cost 5 digits. Nor do I want to get the <$100 Walmart special. I was told to look at Shimano or Daiwa, 2500 sized spinning reel with a medium to medium light action rod, but this is all Greek to me!

Oh, and wherever I buy from will have a good return policy, so if I’m totally off the mark he can just go and get whatever he wants.

Will someone please just tell me exactly what to get him?!?!

As soon as I started chemo last September, my resting HR shot up about 10-15 bpm on average, and it wasn’t unusual for it to shoot up to 140s-150s, even at rest. Talked to my oncologist and PCP, who both attributed it to the chemo and said it would improve after treatment. Oh, and had an echo done pre-chemo, which showed a perfectly healthy heart with ejection fraction of 70%.

Whenever Ive checked my Apple Watch during an episode, it always showed sinus tach with a regular rhythm and no AFib, and last time I went to my PCP, my HR was 140 in the office so we ran an EKG, which again showed just sinus tach, no afib, no SVTs, no other funky stuff, and a regular rhythm

I’m now 4 months post-chemo, and my HR is still acting crazy. Typically ok at rest, but with any — and I mean ANY — kind of exertion it will still go up to 140s or higher. Even yesterday I was practicing golf putts, not even full drives!, and had to sit down and rest because I thought I was going to pass out.

Part of me says that it’s still likely the effects of chemo combined with deconditioning (particularly because I’ve been so hesitant to do any level of cardio with this heart rate!). But the other part of me says maybe I should get checked out by a cardiologist anyway, even though it’s “just” sinus tach. And as I’m writing this, I’m realizing that I probably should see a cardio, but I guess I just don’t want to go just to hear that it’s just sinus tach and to suck it up!

Sorry for the long somewhat rambling post, but never had cardiac issues, no cardiac hx in my family, and just want to be able to take a long walk again and enjoy life!
