Hi everyone! I’m planning to apply for a US B1/B2 visa and I’d love to get some insights on my profile. Medyo kabado kasi first timer and I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews about VAs/Freelancers getting denied.
My Profile:
- Role: Senior Bookkeeper / Financial Consultant (6 years experience in PH and US accounting).
- Credentials: BS Accountancy graduate, QBO Advanced Certified ProAdvisor, and HIPAA Certified.
- Status: Single Mother to a 2-year-old child
- Income: Approx. $1,700/month (from 2 long-term US clients).
The Purpose of the Trip:
- My main client (based in NY) invited me for a 2-week on-site training.
- The client is sponsoring everything (Flight, Hotel, Per Diem) and will provide a detailed Invitation Letter & Training Itinerary.
My Plan for Ties/Documents:
- BIR Registered: Currently processing my registration as a Professional (8% tax rate) to have an ITR.
- Social Ties: I’m the primary caregiver for my toddler and my senior parents.
- Future Plans: We already have a booked family trip to Hong Kong this December. All paid and booked.
- Property: None under my name yet (legal reasons).
My Questions:
- Is it better to declare the trip as Business/Training (B1) sponsored by the client, or just say Tourist (B2) and self-funded? (Note: I’m leaning towards being honest about the training).
- Does being a Single Mom with a toddler at home help as a "strong tie," or is it better not to emphasize it too much?
- For those with similar profiles (Accounting/Finance Freelancers), what specific questions did the Consul ask you?
Hoping for some constructive advice. Thank you!
