I have CPTSD that was asymptomatic until I hit perimenopause. Then I started getting really scary dissociation (basically panic attacks where I was gone for a second and fell and gave myself black eyes, broken fingers etc.). I researched and dissociation is actually one of the many meno brain sideeffects (hormonal imbalance) but was worse for me with pre-existing CPTSD and a lonely life with little support. I did also see a neurologist who ruled out it being anything else.
My doctors and I tried everything for years to stop it, alternative, HRT, pharma, nothing worked even MDMA and shrooms.
Finally I tried buspar, it actually keeps me present (going on 6 months) stopped the dissociation but no matter how much I first tried raising then lowering the dose it gives me awful side effects (see below).
I would throw it in the garbage and set it on fire (feels like poison in my veins and look like hell) except it's the only thing that has stopped the dangerous dissociation.
QUESTION: Has anyone found anything else to help with hormonal or other dissociation? I even looked for a holistic psychiatrist but couldn't find a good affordable one.
Thanks so much all. Desparate for help.
