I work part time at a cinema, just trying to earn some money. Yesterday this Singaporean Chinese guy walks in carrying bags of outside food, drinks, snacks, everything.
So I politely tell him, “Sorry sir, outside food isn’t allowed inside.”Instantly his attitude flipped. He started raising his voice, saying, “Singapore don’t have this kind of rule!” and even went on about how Singapore is “higher standard” than Malaysia, so why here so strict.I kept it professional, told him it’s management policy, not my rule. But nope he escalated.Started cursing, talking down to me, saying I got no common sense. At that point I’m just thinking… bro I’m getting paid to scan tickets, not debate national standards 💀.In my head I was already like, if Singapore so good then go watch movie there lah 😭Then my manager came. And guess what?He apologized to the customer. For MY “behavior.”
I was standing there like ??? I didn’t even raise my voice. I just followed the rules they told me to enforce.
Honestly that part pissed me off more than the customer.Like what’s the point of rules if staff get thrown under the bus the moment a customer complains?
And seriously… fuck this “customer is always right” policy. Some customers are just straight up wrong and disrespectful.Working service line really shows you how some people think paying = can treat workers like trash.
Anyone else deal with this kind of nonsense before or just me kena suay 😭
