Hi everyone,

I’m an international student (not familiar with the US credit system), and I’m finding the UoPeople catalog and DAR very confusing. I’ve read the catalog multiple times, but I’m still paranoid about making a mistake that could cost me my degree.

I need someone to explain the practical difference between Residency Requirements and Proctored Requirements in the following context:

The Confusion: Does "Proctored Requirement" mean I MUST take the exam at UoPeople with a proctor, or does it simply mean that the spot in my DAR for that specific course must be filled (even by a transfer)? I already had one transfer from Study.com that was mapped to a proctored course and marked as "Met" in my DAR. Is that officially "done," or will they ask for a proctored exam later?

Residency vs. Core: I have already completed 6 courses at UoPeople and I'm currently taking 2 more, and plan od next term 2 (total 10). I know I need 30 credits (10 courses) for residency. Since I will hit that 10-course mark after this next term, can I transfer all my remaining Core courses (like Strategic Management, Org Theory, etc.) from Study.com/Sophia?

Core Course Transfers: The catalog makes it sound like Core courses are "mandatory," which I understand, but does that mean mandatory at UoPeople or just mandatory to have them in my transcript? Many of my remaining Core courses are listed as proctored. If I transfer them, am I safe even if I didn't do 11 proctored exams at UoPeople?

Mapping issues: They mapped my Upper-Division transfer to a Lower-Division proctored course. As an international student, I'm terrified this will mess up my "Upper Division" credit count for graduation. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm asking here because my Advisor gives me "copy-paste" answers that don't address my specific confusion about these two overlapping requirements.

Thanks for helping a confused international student!
