Hey everyone,

About a year ago, my child had a scary allergic reaction after eating takeout. The restaurant didn’t flag the allergen, and I had no way to verify the ingredients before we ate. That experience sent me down a rabbit hole — I started researching food recalls, restaurant inspection scores, ingredient safety, and realized there was no single app that brought all of this together for families.

So I built one.

Piece of Mind (https://pieceofmind.fyi) is an AI-powered food safety tracker with 65+ features. Here’s what it does:

•	AI Receipt Scanning — photograph a grocery receipt and it extracts every item with prices, quantities, and estimated expiration dates. Items go into a smart pantry organized by category (Refrigerated, Frozen, Pantry, Rx/Supplements, Pet Food, Take Out, etc.)

•	FDA Recall Defense Dashboard — continuously monitors FDA and USDA recall databases and cross-references them against YOUR inventory. If something in your kitchen gets recalled, you get a push notification with severity rating and recommended action. Currently tracking 2,200+ active threats.

•	Restaurant Inspection Scores — search health inspection records from government databases across U.S. cities. See scores, violations, and the Top 3 Worst Offenders in your area before you eat out.

•	Dietary & Pregnancy Safety Scanner — photograph any food label or menu and get instant AI analysis for allergens, pregnancy-unsafe ingredients, and dietary compatibility. Supports 15+ allergen categories and 8 dietary profiles.

•	Ingredients Safety Checker — snap a photo of any ingredient list for instant AI safety analysis with allergen warnings and dietary compatibility checks.

•	AI Recipes — suggests recipes based on what’s actually in your pantry, prioritizing items near expiration.

•	Family Health Dashboard — up to 5 family member profiles with allergies, dietary restrictions, insurance cards, and emergency contacts.

•	Spending Analytics — track grocery spending by retailer with trend charts.

Tech stack: React 19, Tailwind 4, tRPC, Capacitor for mobile, multiple government inspection APIs, FDA/USDA recall feeds, and custom AI models for receipt parsing and ingredient analysis.

The app is live as a progressive web app at https://pieceofmind.fyi and we’re currently in the Google Play internal testing phase for Android.

I’m looking for 20 beta testers who’d be willing to use the app daily for about 2 weeks. In exchange, you get 6 months free on the full plan (normally $4.99/mo) plus your name in the credits as a founding tester. If you’re interested, sign up at the link and DM me.

Happy to answer any questions about the build, the tech, or the food safety data sources. Feedback is very welcome — I’ve been heads-down building and could use fresh eyes.
