Matt received a question about the pressure of writing a hit series and the pressure of what essentially feels like "being responsible for people's happiness" and the pressure and worry of "what if the next book is shit?", and I just really wanted to express my sentiment (and hopefully the sentiment of others) that the enjoyment I have gotten out of the series so far can never be dulled. I love Matt's writing, his style, his humor, his references, his irreverence. I love the commentary this series has become as a condemnation of certain systems and types of power, and I love the ways in which the relationships between the characters is their strongest tool in their war for survival. It echoes the feelings I feel for Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I am capable but need my friends), Firefly (we are stronger together and fuck those guys over there, they're liars) , Angel (you can't get everything, you have to sacrifice something sometimes and you can't go back and fix it), and the first season of Heroes (Save the Cheerleader (the AI), save the world).

It feels like nostalgia but it's better than all those things for me. It's feeling like someone has felt the music I have been dancing to my whole life, or like meeting someone and realizing you feel like you just met an old friend who gets you. I can never not like what comes out next, and I could never dislike what already exists. It cannot be spoiled, and the series will always be a favorite. I appreciate the speed of the publishing, and I appreciate the grace under pressure Matt is demonstrating, and I love and am inspired by that kind of strength of character.

Matt has carte blanche. At least from me. I'm not often earnest or verbal in the ways I show my affection, because I can be too direct and it can feel like too much, but I don't have any other way of saying I support the guy and I want him to feel comfortable that at least one fan won't be going anywhere ever. I'm just very impressed and grateful at the pace of publishing. He doesn't make us wait 6+ years like Jim Butcher does to the Dresden Files readers while he writes entire other series, he wants to get the story told and wrap it up nicely and THEN write another series, and I commend that strategy more than I can convey in words.
