Hi, I’m finishing my MSc in Physics (India), working on stochastic modelling (Langevin dynamics, simulations, Monte Carlo, etc.), and I’m trying to break into quant or finance roles.
I’ve been applying and networking, but I’m not sure how to best use the next 6–12 months if I don’t land something immediately.
Current plan:
- Prepare for CFA Level 1
- Continue studying Hull (Black-Scholes, Ito calculus)
- Build some finance-oriented projects (Monte Carlo pricing, etc.)
My question is:
Would CFA Level 1 meaningfully improve my chances, or would my time be better spent focusing more on quant interview prep (probability, coding, etc.) and projects?
Also, for someone with my background, what would you prioritize to become competitive for entry-level roles?
Thanks!
