A brilliant day at the office for Hyeon Parsons of South Korea

Fiji got into a brilliant start and were 88/1.

Hyeon who previously had only 1 wicket in 11 T20Is came to bowl and then turned the game upside down with the spell of 6/31. This is the best ever bowling figures by a South Korean bowler.

As if that’s not enough then he came to bat at no. 3 and guide his team to their 3rd T20I with an unbeaten 27 off 22.

South Korea 🇰🇷 (141/4 in 18 overs) beat Fiji 🇫🇯 (140 in 19.5 overs) by 6 wickets.

China women beat Malaysia, a team ranked 17 places above them

Mingyue Zhou the captain of China bowled the last over of the chase defended 6 , then bowled the super over just for 8 and finally came to bat in the super over and scored 7 of the 9 required. A true display of captain leading from the front!

These are the projections I computed for the annual ranking update on May 2026. This is the first time I had enough data for a full projection on WT20I rankings and I’m eager to see how close they match with the official update.

Australia still at the top but they barely played any T20Is last year and it didn’t help their rating.

Sri Lanka still at 7 and afaik they need to overtake WI to keep the hosting rights and to qualify for the inaugural Champions Trophy next year. We have closed that gap massively thanks to our 2-0 win against WI but I just can’t help but think about the opportunity we missed in the first T20I in that series. We bowled out WI for just 49 but then rain came to wash out the match.

Overall, teams that improved their ranking and also the rating the most after the update is Austria 🇦🇹(10 places , 14 points.)

ICC annual rankings update day is May 01st. These are the projections I computed. This is the second time I have enough data for a full projection and I believe they will closely match the actual update.

Gap between India and the second place team is 14 points. The biggest I have seen at a recent update.

The only change in top 10 is Sri Lanka 🇱🇰and Bangladesh 🇧🇩 swapping their places.

USA is now the highest ranked associate team.

Overall, teams that improved their ranking the most after the update are Cyprus 🇨🇾(11 places , 10 points) and Eswatini 🇸🇿(9 places , 10 points).

Teams that improved their rating points the most are Italy 🇮🇹 (3 places, 11 points ) and Spain 🇪🇸 (4 places, 12 points)

Annual ICC men’s ranking update happens on May 1st of each year. Simply put, it is sort of a special update that can cause significant changes in the table.

A rankings cycle runs from May 1st of each year to April 30th of the next year.

That means the last rankings cycle started on May 1, 2025 and ends on April 30 , 2026 ; today.

This is a summary of where top 20 teams were at the beginning of the current cycle and where they are when the current cycle ends today.

After a gap of two years, Chile women made their international comeback last week. They played a 3 match T20I series against Costa Rica for the Central American Championship.

Chile lost all 3 matches and convincingly. However efforts by Franchesca Moya of Chile with the bat needs some appreciation given how she was so far ahead of her teammates.

Franchesca scored 62 runs in 3 innings at an average of 32 across the series.

Rest of Chile scored 49 runs for 26 wickets and averaged just 1.88.
