Made a leather backing for my block to keep the babies safe
NKsD - My Yoshida Hamono SUJ-2s finally arrived from Dictum
Around 2 weeks after my expected delivery window, these babies arrived. £83 for both delivered from Germany is a wild deal, so great work to Dictum and Yoshida for that.
I bought these as project knives to mess around with and rehandle.
64-65 HRC
SUJ-2 steel (similar to 52100)
Bunka height: 51mm
Bunka Spine (heel, 1/2, pre-tip): 3.5,2,2
Nakiri height: 54-55mm
Nakiri Spine (heel, 1/2, tip): 3,2,2
Possibly a bit of a bend in the bunka
I wasn't prepared for how nice the grinds would feel ootb to be honest.
They aren't as thin as i was expecting, and are not really tapered at all, but the basic cutting profile is pretty strong. Good food release and reasonably thin behind the edge. No wedging or sticking on carrot test on the bunka. Nakiri hasn't been tested but grind looks similar. They look a little bit right hand biased but unclear if this is deliberate.
Project work will include some thinning near the tip of the bunka, overall thinning behind the edge for the nakiri and a nice new swanky wood + horn ferrule on each.
TBD whether they are kept or gifted. The bunka is nice and tall and may actually usurp my kumokage
Email from Natwest about changing legal basis for handling biometric data
As in the title, got an email from NatWest saying they're updating how they handle biometric data from May. Ran it through Claude to make sure I wasnt being an idiot, slightly concerned.
currently they need your consent to use your face/voice data. From May they're moving to legitimate interests basis (which you should be unticking when a website asks for your consents) which means they've decided it's fine without needing your say-so. You can still object but they don't have to listen.
I'm probably overreacting but it's biometrics, not a password. Feels like a pretty significant thing to bury in a routine email.
Is this standard practice in Ts & Cs or worth actually doing something about?
