Are FNaF 2 Phone calls / FNaF 4 Minigames telling the same story? [ More speculation in description ]
I noticed that Night 6's phone calls and "1 day before the party" both reference a birthday party happening the next day.
I wondered if they were both referring to the crying child's birthday (and therefore both happening at the same time).
I decided to map the Nights onto eachother, using Night 6 / "1 night until" as the starting point, and found some pretty interesting overlaps that might suggest that these are telling the same stories.
FNaF 2 Night 1 Calls
Phone Guy welcomes you to your new "Summer job" at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. It is important to note that these phone calls are prerecorded, as the paychecks are from November. It is the phone calls that are happening at the same time as the FNaf 4 minigames, not the gameplay as a guard.
Although this happens before any of the FNaf 4 minigames, it is likely that those minigames also take place in the Summer, as evidenced by the Sunflowers in "Two more days until the party", which only grow in Summer
FNaF 2 Night 2 Calls / FNaf 4 "5 days until the party"
These are both the most uneventful nights in both games, and so there is not much to go off of.
Though "5 days until the party" does introduce us to the Talking Fredbear plushies, aswell as the Crying Child's other plushies, which will become important in FNaF 2 Night 7.
FNaF 2 Night 3 Calls / FNaF 4 "4 days until the party"
Night 3 is where the Phone Guys tells us that there have been "rumors and speculation" floating around, which refers to William Afton killing children.
It is likely that these murders are what the Crying Child was traumatised by, and what he was referring to when saying "Don't you remember what you saw?" In the following day.
Phone guy also tells us that the "guard during the day has reported nothing unusual". This guard is DEFINITELY William Afton. Not only because he would cover up the killings by not reporting anything, but also evidence in FNaF 4 "3 days until the party"
FNaF 2 Night 4 Calls / FNaF 4 "3 days until the party"
I hope you are following, because this is a big one
In "3 days until the party", we see William Afton acting as a day guard, helping someone into a suit. This supports the idea from FNaF 2 Night 3 that Afton was the "guard reporting nothing unusual"
Notice how this is the FIRST and LAST time we see William Afton in FNaF 4, as it is said in FNaF 2 Night 5 that the "day guard position just became available"
This would mean that Afton had killed some children (hence the investigation and the Crying Child being traumatised) whilst still working at Freddies, as we discover that his position "comes available" in Night 5 of FNaF 2 (The next day)
FNaF 2 Night 5 Calls / FNaF 4 "2 days until the party"
In "2 days until the party", we see that the "Rumors and speculation" that phone guy referenced have become widespread. This is seen in the Red Pigtail girl saying "If you die, they hide your body and never tell."
Additionally, in Fnaf 2 Night 5, Phone guy states that "The building is on Lock-down, nobody is allowed in or out, especially concerning any previous employees" We therefore know that Afton must have gotten found out and fired somewhere between Night 4 / Night 5 or FNaF 2, which is why we do not see him again in FNaF 4, and why the Day Guard shift becomes available in FNaF 2 Night 5.
FNaF 2 Night 6 Calls / FNaF 4 "1 day until the party"
In Night 6 of FNaF 2, Phone guy says "We had a spare in the back, a yellow one, someone used it, now none of them are acting right". So by this point, Afton had killed all of his victims.
This point is "1 day until the party" in FNaF 4. It is therefore likely that the Fredbear suit next to the crying child in the room is stuffed with one of Afton's victims from the last few days.
Given the fact that they are stuffed into a Golden Freddy suit, it is likely that this is Cassidy. It is possible that Cassidy being killed is what the Crying Child saw to traumatise them. This explains why they are so afraid of the Golden Freddy mascot specifically, but also why Cassidy and CC would co-haunt the Golden Freddy suit.
Phone guy also states on Night 6 that "We have one more event scheduled for tomorrow, a Birthday." A birthday happening the following day mirrors "1 day until the party" from FNaF 4.
Also, the "lock-down" Phone guy mentions on Night 5 must only be referring to staff when the restaurant is not open, as he says that a birthday event WILL still be happening in Night 6.
FNaF 2 Night 7 / FNaF 4 "0 days until the party"
In FNaF 2's Night 7, it is possible to unlock plushies by doing certain Custom Night challenges. This includes a Golden Fredbear plush, complete with White dots behind the pupils, identical to the Crying Child's plush in FNaF 4. This is strong evidence that FNaF 4 and FNaF 2 - at the very minimum - take place in the same building.
We can also assume that the Birthday Phone Guy was referring to, was the Crying Child's birthday.
Phone Guy also does not leave a message in Night 7. Game wise, this is because it would be impossible for one prerecorded message to cover all Custom Night combinations.
However, this is given a lore explanation in FNaF 1's Custom Night, as Phone Guy dies the previous night. In FNaF 2, there is no lore explanation given. It is possible that he does not leave a message, as the Restaurant is shut down after the Bite, which would have happened the day after Night 6's phone calls.
FnaF 2 Gameplay / Fnaf 4 [After the party]
What we see in FNaF 2 (most notably, the cameras) is the aftermath of the restaurant being closed down in Night 7. On the security cameras, we see happy birthday banners displayed, further proving that CC's birthday was the last thing to happen before the place got closed down.
Additionally, we see a carousel ride on the FNaF 2 Cameras. In the Security Logbook, the crying child is asked through faded text "Was your favourite ride the Carousel?" This shows that the crying child was present at the FNaF 2 location, further proving that this and the FNaF 4 location are one in the same.
Finally, the last thing we see in Fnaf 4 is the crying child fading away with his plushies, the same ones we see in Fnaf 2 Night 7.
Okay, i know this is not perfect and still has some question marks hanging over it, but when mapping out the two sets of nights like this, I think there are many more similarities than one would expect, and some pieces of info from one game fills in gaps from another game.
Is there something to this? Or am i going insane lol
You tell me!
