Hello!

First time poster here, wanted to get others opinion on this.

I just got my A license last week. In my country for this license we take the lessons on bigger bikes(compared to what I've seen elsewhere). My learner bike was a Yamaha FZ6n, the 2007 model.

I saw many recommendations for the ninja 650, zx4rr, erc. on here, but all these small bikes are extremely overpriced (for what they offer) where I live, probably because they're aimed at new riders.

I usually like bikes with full/partial fairings, I'm not into choppers or naked bikes. Now, the reasons I got myself invested in buying the CBF 1000 mk.2 are:

  • it's pretty affordable, I can find models in really good condition for 3.5-4k euros
  • reliable, especially the mk.2 which had the mk.1 issues fixed
  • it has a really low adjustable seat height, I'm 170cm or 5'7"... this can go down to 780mm in the lowest seat position, which is lower than most bikes in the sport/ sport touring category. Being able to put my feet down fully will give me a lot of confidence
  • the bike is considered really comfortable and surprisingly manageable for newer riders, from what I read around. The power is delivered very linearly.

Sure, it has a lot of power for a beginner, but I'm really sensible with everything new. Even when I got my driver's license I drove like a granny until I got used to the car. This is the plan with a new bike as well, I'll take it extremely easy, because I'm always aware of my limit and that I have 0 experience. The only negative for this bike will be the weight, on the upside it has a pretty low center of gravity, which should help.

So what do you guys think? Am I being completely unreasonable with my choice?
